New Publication Exploring the Premises for Corruption in the Higher Education System

In January 2005, the National Youth Organization for Social and Economic Development, Stara Zagora published an Anticorruption Notebook - an analysis of the corruption premises in the higher education system. The publication was produced under the project National Students Initiative "I Do Not Bribe!" in the framework of the Civil Society Against Corruption Program of Coalition 2000 and with the financial support of USAID.

The Anticorruption Notebook contains information divided in the following sections:
- Definitions of corruption in the higher education system;
- Legal documents regulating the activities of higher education institutions in Bulgaria;
- Premises for corruption in the universities;
- Scope of corruption in the universities (sociological surveys and data from different Bulgarian universities);
- Anticorruption activities and the law;
- Analysis of the benefits and losses from corruption practices in the higher education system;
- Level of corruption in selected Bulgarian universities: results from an on-line survey;
- How can students and university professors and administration fight corruption.
